We all love the place where we were born, and we are inclined to exalt it. But Racalmuto is truly an extraordinary town. Leonardo Sciascia

The writer, Racalmuto and his people, which Sciascia describes, all together, as an extraordinary town, are parts of the same unit, Sciascia cannot ignore Racalmuto and Racalmuto cannot be said to be complete without the work and figure of Sciascia. The entire city is, through the faces and stories of each of its inhabitants, part of Sciacca's work. So it is quite simple to describe and then start a journey through the places that, in two hours of peaceful walk, would allow those interested in the figure of the writer to relive his work and character. And we can only start from the house where Sciascia lived as a child and then from 1944 to 1957, which recently acquired by a private individual, is now the seat of the CasaSciascia association which has made the structure accessible to any visitors; then we continue heading towards the very central via Garibaldi, where, at the foot of the balconies of the club that Sciascia frequented, we find the sculpture that represents him as if he were still walking among his people. Then, turning the visitor's gaze towards the Sanctuary of the Mount, going up towards it, the path that leads us to Sciascia "man of letters" begins, passing from the classroom where he taught and perhaps began to outline his vis scriptoria, up to the Sciascia Foundation where his work is fully unraveled and illustrated to visitors, through all his literary production. To conclude our journey, in the driveway of the Racalmuto cemetery, where the writer's remains rest peacefully next to his beloved wife.
